Federally Qualified Health Center

A federally qualified health center (FQHC) is a type of provider defined by the Medicare and Medicaid statutes. The Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC)/HRSA is responsible for the recommendation to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for designation as FQHCs, however, CMS has the final authority to designate applicants as FQHCs. The organizations are recertified annually to assure they are in compliance with these regulations. FQHCs include all organizations receiving grants under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act.

Community Mental Health Center (CMHC)

In 1963 the Public Health Law 88-164 "The Community Mental Health Centers Act" was enacted to address the critical need for alternatives to institutionalization for addressing the needs of the mentally ill. This act provided for the early intervention and treatment for both adults and children with the aim of stemming the debilitating effects of mental illness. As a CMHC, Swope Health Services seeks to provide access to quality mental health services.

National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC)

NACHC is the only national health care organization dedicated exclusively to providing community health centers with advocacy, training, technical assistance, information and new resource opportunities. NACHC represents the program and policy interests of more than 1,000 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands, and Guam. Founded in 1970, the National Association of Community Health Centers, Inc. (NACHC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance and expand access to quality, community-responsive health care for America’s medically underserved and uninsured.

National Council for Community Behavioral Health

The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) association of 1,300 behavioral healthcare organizations that provide treatment and rehabilitation for mental illnesses and addictions disorders to nearly six million adults, children and families in communities across the country. The National Council and its members bear testimony to the fact that medical, social, psychological and rehabilitation services offered in community settings help people with mental illnesses and addictions disorders recover and lead productive lives.

Joint Commission

Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission seeks to continuous improve safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits nearly 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States, including 8, 000 hospitals and home care organizations, and more than 6,800 other health care organizations that provide long term care, assisted living, behavioral health care, laboratory and ambulatory care services. An independent, not-for-profit organization, the Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

Missouri Department of Mental Health: Division of Comprehensive Psychiatric Services

Charged with the delivery of services to persons with mental illness for the state of Missouri, the Department of Mental Health (DMH) funds both inpatient and ambulatory services throughout the state. As a Community Mental Health Center, Swope Health Services Behavioral Health program has been designated as one of several administrative agents for the primary entry and exit points for state mental health services and for the assessment and services to both adults and children the western region of the State. In addition, follow-up services are provided for individuals released from state-operated inpatient hospitals.

Missouri Department of Mental Health: Division of Alcohol & Drug Abuse

The Division of Alcohol & Drug Abuse funds community-based programs that work with communities to develop and implement comprehensive coordinated plans to address prevention, treatment and rehabilitation programs for alcohol and other drug abuse. The Division operates a certification program that sets standards for prevention, treatment and qualified professionals in the delivery of alcohol and other drug abuse services. Swope Health Services Behavioral Health program is a certified provider of universal & targeted prevention, detoxification, outpatient and primary plus recovery support services for the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Alcohol & Drug Abuse.
